01 Discovery & Concept

This first phase of the journey is about me getting to know you and your project. Together, we will develop an initial design proposal that you are happy with before taking it to the next stage. Depending on the size and complexity of the project, this stage can take anywhere between 2 - 8 weeks to complete.

INITIAL BRIEFING

Your brief will form the foundation for your project, encompassing not only your likes and dislikes but your hopes, dreams and expectations for your interior space. This will help us craft a clear understanding of the requirements that will make your space unique to you.

SITE SURVEY

A site survey will give us a complete overview of the building and its interior. Looking in a wider context this should also make us aware of the surroundings of the building, its locality and what part the natural environment plays in relationship to the surveyed building.

SPATIAL PLANNING

Spatial planning combines the initial brief and site survey in order to unlock the exciting possibilities for your project. I have often viewed this stage of design as a puzzle, with multiple different pieces that ultimately lead to the perfect fit. This is where the fun and creativity begins, with your first glimpse at your future space.

MOOD BOARD INSPIRATION

We use inspiration imagery to begin building up the picture of your preferred style and aesthetics for the space. I like to make this part of the process playful and interactive by sharing digital Pinterest boards or in-person workshops, where we build the boards together and discuss thoughts and opportunities.

LIGHTING, FURNITURE & FINISHES CONCEPT

This stage is where we use our finalised floor plan and concept mood imagery to generate ideas on lighting, furniture and general finishes throughout, bringing your vision to life and giving us the tools to begin 3D modelling.

3D DIGITAL MODEL

The 3D interior design process calls for careful planning of the design so that the inner space of the house provides a perfect digital replica of the real-life structure. This provides a visual representation of how the space will feel, using shape and form.

02 Detail design

This second phase of the journey is unlocked following approval of concept design. The focus is on the detail, ensuring your vision is bought to life with quality and function at the forefront. This stage typically lasts between 4 - 6 weeks.

MECHANICAL & ELECTRICAL DESIGN

The mechanical and electrical design is vital to create a seamless user experience. The navigation of your space should be completely intuitive; including the correct placement of sockets, lights, switches, tailored to how you use your space, ensuring functionality and ease of use.

JOINERY DESIGN

Integrating bespoke joinery can add an extra layer of creativity and personalisation to your space. This could be anything from a bespoke kitchen, piece of furniture, bookcase, wardrobe, wall paneling, you name it !

MATERIAL & FURNITURE SELECTION

The correct selection of furniture & materials is a key driver to ensure quality and aesthetics whilst keeping the budget in check.

Local suppliers will be considered initially to keep sustainability at the forefront throughout the design.

03 Technical & Implementation

This final phase consists of all technical design documentation in preparation for construction. Your vision becomes reality and your new space is complete. Depending on the complexity of the project, this stage can take up to 4 weeks for technical documentation.

FURNITURE, FIXTURES & EQUIPMENT

Once the full detail design has been locked in, various schedules and shopping lists are formed to help us keep track of each element. These schedules are coordinated with the construction package and typically include information on every material, piece of furniture and lighting with links and prices for full transparency.

CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS

Construction drawings follow the design intent, these are graphic representations that communicate to the build team how to construct, remodel, or install a project. These drawings also include related information, such as room designations, door, window, and fixture locations; dimensions, materials and other details.

SITE VISITS

Site visits are important to ensure all is running smoothly and any critical information required is captured prior to completion. My involvement throughout this stage will vary depending on the project. I am available for site visits upon client requests.
